Over 10,000+ customers' choice, Focus on screening industry 40+ years
The difficulty in screening coconut flakes stems from their unique material characteristics:
High fat content – adhesion and blinding. Coconut flakes have a fat content of 40% to 60%. During screening, the fat forms a sticky film on the screen surface – fine particles are "glued" to the mesh, accumulating thicker and thicker until the openings are completely sealed. Fibre entanglement further worsens blinding – the plant fibres in coconut flakes tend to wrap around the screen wires, forming "fibre bridges" that, combined with fat adhesion, make screen blinding a constant problem.
Hygroscopic – prone to lumping. Coconut flakes have a certain degree of hygroscopicity – during storage or conveying, they readily absorb moisture from the air and form hard lumps. Once these lumps enter the screening zone, they are difficult to remove through conventional vibration and may become wedged in the mesh openings, further aggravating blinding.
High fines content – dust emission. Coconut flakes generate large quantities of fines during grinding and screening – these are lightweight and easily airborne. On traditional open screening equipment, they readily escape through equipment gaps into the workshop air – causing material loss and polluting the production environment.
Gaofu's S49 series coconut flakes rotary vibrating sieve (also called a three‑dimensional rotary vibrating sieve) uses a vertical vibration motor as the excitation source. Eccentric weights installed at the top and bottom of the motor convert rotary motion into a three‑dimensional compound motion (horizontal, vertical, and inclined), which is transmitted to the screen surface. Material moves on the screen surface in a spiral outward trajectory – spreading from the centre toward the periphery.
By adjusting the phase angle of the upper and lower eccentric weights, the material's movement trajectory and residence time on the screen can be flexibly changed to suit different materials such as coconut flakes. This unique motion pattern gives coconut flakes ample opportunity for dispersion and tumbling on the screen surface – effectively reducing static accumulation of fines on the mesh and alleviating blinding from the motion mechanism.
Material enters through the central feed port and, under the three‑dimensional vibration force, spreads outward on the screen surface in a spiral path. Fines and on‑spec coconut flake particles pass through the screen into the lower hopper, while coarse particles, lumps, and foreign matter are automatically discharged along the screen surface from the reject outlet – achieving raw material impurity removal and finished product grading in one step.
The typical coconut flakes screening process is: raw material pre‑treatment (cleaning, crushing) → coarse grinding → screening → fine grading. Among these steps, the screening stage is the critical node for removing fibre impurities, separating fines from hard lumps, and achieving particle size grading.
Screening objective: impurity removal first, grading second. The primary task of coconut flakes screening is to remove fibre lumps, hard particles, packaging debris, and other foreign matter – ensuring product purity. At the same time, through precise multi‑deck screen configurations, coconut flakes are separated by particle size into different grades to meet the particle size requirements of various applications – baking, desserts, snacks, and more.
Screening mesh: covers 8 to 120 mesh. Coconut flakes screening mesh requirements are broad – from coarse screening (8‑20 mesh) to fine screening (80‑120 mesh). Coarse screening removes large lumps and foreign matter, while medium‑to‑fine screening achieves different particle size grades to meet the diverse requirements of downstream applications.
Screening throughput: 300 to 800 kg/h. Modern coconut flakes processing lines have clear requirements for screening equipment capacity. Gaofu's S49 series rotary vibrating sieve single‑machine throughput covers this capacity range – meeting the needs of small‑to‑medium processors and large‑scale producers alike.
Gaofu's S49 series coconut flakes rotary vibrating sieve supports flexible configurations of 1 to 5 screen decks – one machine can simultaneously complete 2 to 6 grades of separation or filtration. For coconut flakes processing, a typical multi‑deck configuration is as follows:
Upper deck (coarse screen, 8‑20 mesh) – intercepting hard lumps and foreign matter. Large lumps, fibre agglomerates, packaging debris, and other foreign matter are effectively intercepted by the upper deck – protecting material purity at the source. This deck acts as the "gatekeeper," protecting lower decks from large material impact.
Middle decks (grading screens, 20‑80 mesh) – achieving particle size grading. This is the core of multi‑deck grading. By setting screens of different mesh sizes (e.g., 20 mesh, 40 mesh, 60 mesh, 80 mesh), coconut flakes are precisely separated by particle size into different specifications – coarse particles for fillings and decoration, medium‑fine particles for baking and confectionery, and ultra‑fine powder for premium desserts and beverages.
Lower deck (safety screen) – ensuring finished product purity. As the final checkpoint, it further intercepts fine impurities – ensuring reliable purity of coconut flakes entering the packaging stage.
The value of "one feed, multiple outputs":
Combined processes, reduced material transfer. In traditional modes, different specification grading often requires multiple machines or multiple screening passes – material transfer between machines increases contamination risk. Gaofu's rotary vibrating sieve combines multiple processes into a single machine – reducing material exposure and cross‑contamination opportunities.
One machine, multiple functions – flexible adaptation to different needs. When switching between different fineness specifications, simply adjust or change the corresponding screen decks – no need to replace the entire machine.
High grading accuracy – eliminating size mixing and cross‑contamination. The precise multi‑deck grading ensures purity of each particle size grade – screened coconut flakes are uniform in size, effectively preventing mixing between different specifications.
The most common challenge in coconut flakes screening is blinding – fine particles blocking the mesh cause screening efficiency to drop, and grading accuracy fluctuates accordingly. Gaofu's S49 series coconut flakes rotary vibrating sieve provides systematic solutions across multiple levels:
Bouncing ball cleaning system – continuous knocking, real‑time blinding prevention. Food‑grade silicone bouncing balls are installed below the screen – during operation, they continuously knock against the screen, dislodging fine powder adhering to the screen and particles wedged in the mesh. This "screening‑while‑cleaning" design keeps the screen fully permeable throughout the screening process – effectively relieving the adhesion and blinding problems of high‑fat coconut flakes.
Ultrasonic cleaning system (optional) – overcoming ultra‑fine powder blinding. For ultra‑fine coconut flakes powder (e.g., above 100 mesh), conventional bouncing ball cleaning has limited effectiveness. Gaofu's rotary vibrating sieve can be optionally equipped with an ultrasonic cleaning system – high‑frequency vibration keeps fine powder in a "suspended" state on the screen surface, effectively inhibiting adhesion and blinding.
Anti‑blinding structural design – reducing blinding from the design perspective. The screen tensioning structure ensures a flat screen surface, minimising material accumulation dead zones. Combined with an adjustable excitation angle design, vibration parameters are optimised – enhancing material jumping intensity and flowability on the screen surface, further reducing blinding risk.
Fully enclosed structure – solving dust emission problems. The equipment features a fully enclosed structure – fundamentally solving the dust emission problem of traditional screening processes and creating a clean production environment. For materials with high fines content and easy airborne dispersion like coconut flakes, this design improves the workshop environment while reducing material loss.
