Over 10,000+ customers' choice, Focus on screening industry 40+ years
The reason sugar is "difficult to screen" lies in its unique physical properties:
Electrostatic adhesion – fine powder agglomeration. Sugar particles are very fine — during screening, friction between particles generates static electricity. Charged fine particles attract each other to form agglomerates while adhering firmly to the screen surface — ordinary screens quickly become "clogged." The finer the sugar, the stronger the electrostatic effect, and the faster the blinding.
Moisture absorption and lumping – worsening blockage. Powdered sugar is highly hygroscopic. When ambient humidity is high, liquid bridges form between particles, causing micron‑sized particles to stick together. During storage and screening, it readily absorbs moisture from the air, forming hard lumps of varying sizes. These lumps become wedged in the mesh openings, further aggravating blinding.
Conventional vibrating screens – "more vibration, more blinding." Conventional vibrating screens rely on high‑frequency, high‑amplitude mechanical vibration to make material "bounce" through the screen — for ultra‑light, sticky, static‑prone sugar, this approach often backfires. The higher the vibration intensity, the more intense the friction, the stronger the static charge, and the faster the blinding occurs — creating a vicious cycle of "more vibration, more blinding." More critically, when processing ultra‑fine powders above 200 mesh, conventional vibrating screens experience a sharp decline in screening efficiency — the trade‑off between throughput and accuracy becomes increasingly difficult to reconcile.
The design philosophy of Gaofu's QLSP/QLSZ series centrifugal sifter is to fundamentally abandon traditional vibration modes and adopt an aerodynamic design. It no longer relies on mechanical vibration to make material "bounce" through the screen — instead, it allows sugar powder to be screened within an airflow.
The core working process can be broken down into three key steps:
Step 1: Screw conveying – airflow mixing and atomisation. After material enters the equipment through the screw conveying system, it is thoroughly mixed and atomised with high‑speed airflow. Sugar powder particles are dispersed by the airflow — agglomerated fines are broken down into individual particles suspended in the airflow. High‑speed airflow effectively breaks material agglomerates while reducing contact time and area between material and the screen.
Step 2: Centrifugal propulsion – dual forces driving particles through the screen. The dispersed individual particles enter the cylindrical screen drum with the airflow. Through the rotation of the rotor blades inside the drum, the material is subjected to the dual action of centrifugal force and propelling force. Driven by these two forces, powder particles are propelled through the screen. Qualified fine powder is discharged from the fines outlet, while oversize material travels along the screen wall and is automatically discharged from the oversize outlet.
Step 3: Continuous airflow scouring – automatic screen cleaning for sustained permeability. During screening, the airflow continuously scours the screen surface — the screen is scoured by the rotating airflow, achieving automatic self‑cleaning. Fine particles cannot accumulate on the screen surface — the screen remains fully permeable, eliminating the need for frequent stoppages. The equipment also features a de‑agglomeration function for powder lumps — lumps formed by moisture absorption are broken into individual particles before entering the screening zone.
In simple terms: sugar powder no longer "squeezes" through the screen as agglomerates – it is thoroughly dispersed in the airflow and passes through as individual particles "floating" with the airflow. This technical approach fundamentally solves the problems of electrostatic agglomeration and blinding.
1. Significantly increased throughput – 5 to 10 times higher capacity
This is the most direct competitive advantage of the centrifugal sifter. The centrifugal sifter's throughput is 5 to 10 times or more that of conventional vibrating screens. In ultra‑fine powder screening, this advantage is even more pronounced — for 200‑500 mesh ultra‑fine sugar, the centrifugal sifter's throughput is 8 to 10 times higher than conventional screening equipment.
For sugar processors, this means significantly more合格 finished product in the same amount of time. A single centrifugal sifter can replace the capacity of multiple vibrating screens — saving equipment investment while significantly reducing floor space.
2. High screening efficiency – over 95% passage rate
The centrifugal sifter achieves screening efficiency of over 95%. This is due to its "air‑carried material" screening approach — material is thoroughly dispersed in the airflow, and individual particles pass through the screen uniformly with the airflow. There is none of the efficiency loss caused by "material accumulation and local overloading" common in conventional vibrating screens. Screening accuracy is high, product fineness is precise, with no oversize or mis‑grading.
3. Completely eliminates blinding – automatic screen cleaning for continuous operation
The most frustrating problem of conventional vibrating screens processing sugar — screen blinding — is fundamentally solved on the centrifugal sifter. The screen is continuously scoured by the rotating airflow, achieving automatic self‑cleaning with no blinding. Material remains suspended in the airflow and cannot accumulate on the screen surface. This enables 24‑hour continuous production without frequent stoppages for cleaning.
4. Fully enclosed negative‑pressure operation – no dust, no pollution
The centrifugal sifter features a fully enclosed structure with excellent sealing performance — no dust escapes during operation. For high‑value, easily airborne materials like sugar, this design improves the workshop environment, reduces material loss, and complies with food production hygiene standards.
5. Wide fineness range – covers 80‑500 mesh in one machine
The centrifugal sifter can continuously screen powders ranging from 80 to 500 mesh. Whether for commercial sugar conventional screening or ultra‑fine baking sugar fine grading, suitable configurations are available. One machine covering such a wide fineness range means the equipment can handle different order requirements without frequent equipment changes.
1. Capacity matching
The centrifugal sifter's throughput is 5‑10 times that of vibrating screens, but different models still have varying processing capacities. Gaofu's QLSP/QLSZ series offers multiple specifications, with processing capacities ranging from hundreds of kilograms to several tonnes per hour. During selection, choose the appropriate model according to the production line's peak capacity requirements, while reserving some capacity margin.
2. Screening fineness
Sugar fineness ranges from 80 mesh to 500 mesh. The centrifugal sifter covers screen mesh from 5‑500 mesh. During selection, choose the appropriate screen configuration according to the target fineness of the product. For ultra‑fine sugar above 200 mesh, the throughput advantage of the centrifugal sifter is even more pronounced.
3. Material characteristics
Sugar is hygroscopic and static‑prone. The centrifugal sifter's design principles — airflow dispersion, cyclone scouring, automatic screen cleaning — are specifically suited to these material characteristics. During selection, confirm whether the equipment is equipped with a de‑agglomeration function — this is particularly important for processing moisture‑prone sugar.
4. Hygiene standards
Sugar is widely used in food applications — equipment materials must meet food‑grade hygiene standards. Gaofu's centrifugal sifter uses food‑grade 304 stainless steel for all material‑contact parts — with polished surfaces, no dead corners, and easy cleaning — fully compliant with food‑grade hygiene standards. The fully enclosed structure with no dust emission meets GMP clean production requirements.
5. System integration
The centrifugal sifter can be connected in series with positive‑ or negative‑pressure pneumatic systems — seamlessly integrating with existing pneumatic conveying lines. For plants with existing pneumatic conveying systems, this feature enables rapid equipment integration without major production line modifications.
