  • Where Does Spice Big Bag Feeding Dust Come From?

Spice powders typically range from 20 to 120 mesh, with low bulk density and a high proportion of fines. In traditional big‑bag feeding methods, dust emission mainly originates from the following areas:


Large dust release during bag opening. The moment the big‑bag discharge spout is cut open, fine powder accumulated at the spout rapidly disperses with air currents. In traditional open bag opening, dust can travel several metres.


Continuous emission during discharge. As material flows from the big bag into the feed hopper, fine powder is "squeezed" through gaps between the discharge spout and the hopper, continuously dispersing into the workshop air.


Air currents generated by material impact. When powder falls from the big bag and impacts the bottom of the feed hopper, it drives surrounding air to form localised air currents – fine powder particles are carried by these air currents and escape.


The impact of dust emission is multi‑dimensional: it not only causes direct raw material loss (spices are high‑value materials – every dust emission represents direct economic loss) but also pollutes the workshop environment, increases cleaning burdens, and poses potential respiratory health risks to operators with long‑term exposure to high‑concentration dust environments. Its dust control principle can be summarised in three keywords: enclosed, negative pressure, and filtration.


Enclosed – structurally blocking dust dispersion paths. After the big bag is hoisted into position, the bag clamping mechanism seals the big‑bag discharge spout to the equipment feed inlet , forming an enclosed chamber. The entire bag opening and discharge process takes place within this enclosed environment – dust has no escape route. The entire machine features a fully enclosed structure – from the feed inlet to the discharge outlet, all connections are sealed, completely eliminating dust leakage during production.


Negative pressure – active collection rather than passive defence. During discharge, the equipment's negative‑pressure dust collection system operates throughout the entire process. A dust collection fan generates a negative‑pressure environment (-0.4 to -0.6 bar), directionally drawing dust generated during feeding into the filtration device. This active collection method is more effective than simply relying on an enclosed structure – as soon as dust is generated, it is captured and processed, with no opportunity to disperse. After feeding is completed, the pulse‑jet cleaning system activates – dust adhering to the filter elements is blown back into the feed hopper, achieving material recovery and reuse.


Filtration – achieving complete air‑dust separation. Dust‑laden air enters the filtration system, where high‑efficiency filter elements capture dust particles. Dust is retained by the filters, and clean air is exhausted through the discharge system. For ultra‑fine materials like spice powders, the filtration system effectively captures micron‑level dust particles, ensuring clean exhaust air.
