Screening whole spices such as Sichuan pepper, cumin, pepper, and chilli is far more complex than simply "passing through a screen." The challenges stem from the unique characteristics of these materials and production requirements:
Multiple particle specifications demand high grading accuracy. Sichuan pepper seeds vs. husks, whole peppercorns vs. broken pieces, cumin seeds of different sizes – different varieties and applications require different particle sizes. Coarse particles are used for simmering, medium‑fine particles for grinding into powder, and ultra‑fine powder for seasoning production. The equipment must have multi‑stage grading capability to precisely separate mixed materials by particle size.
Impurities must be effectively removed. Whole spice raw materials may contain stones, twine, metal filings, packaging debris, and other foreign matter. If these impurities enter subsequent processes, they directly affect product quality and food safety.

When the two motors run in synchronised opposite rotation, the lateral excitation forces cancel each other out, while the longitudinal forces superimpose to drive the screen surface in stable linear reciprocating vibration. Under the combined action of excitation force and gravity, material is thrown up on the screen surface and moves forward in a straight line in a bouncing motion. Particles smaller than the screen openings pass through to the lower layer, while oversize material travels along the screen surface to the outlet, completing the grading operation.

Long screening path and high screen utilisation. Unlike the spiral spreading motion of circular vibrating screens, the bouncing forward motion of the linear screen causes the material bed to be continuously turned, loosened, and stratified – impurities and fines have ample opportunity to pass through the screen. Material flows smoothly in a straight line without accumulation – throughput far exceeds that of ordinary circular screens.
Adjustable screen inclination for different spice characteristics. Screen inclination can be adjusted within a range of 0° to 7° – a larger inclination increases the leap span and conveying speed, raising throughput; a smaller inclination prolongs material residence time, improving grading accuracy. Operators can flexibly adjust the inclination according to the characteristics of different spices such as Sichuan pepper, cumin, and pepper to achieve the optimal balance between throughput and accuracy.
