Sea salt corrosion – the "double attack" of magnesium chloride and calcium chloride. In addition to sodium chloride, sea salt contains impurities such as magnesium chloride and calcium chloride. These components are highly hygroscopic – they rapidly absorb moisture from the air in humid environments, forming high‑concentration brine solutions. When these solutions contact metal, they produce intense electrochemical corrosion – far more aggressive than pure sodium chloride solutions. Sea salt crushing equipment requires materials with higher corrosion resistance grades.


Rock salt corrosion – the "combined wear" of sediment and brine. Rock salt mining often carries sediment and impurities. During crushing, these hard particles cause abrasive wear on equipment surfaces. At the same time, residual brine in rock salt is also corrosive. The combined effect of abrasion and corrosion makes rock salt crushing equipment wear out far faster than when processing ordinary materials.
