Over 10,000+ customers' choice, Focus on screening industry 40+ years
White granulated sugar, soft white sugar, icing sugar… these seemingly simple sugar products are among the most widely used raw materials in the baking, confectionery, beverage and dairy industries. The purity and particle uniformity of sugar directly determine the taste, appearance and market value of the final product.
However, sugar screening is far from straightforward.
Sugar products face two major challenges during storage and screening:
First, moisture absorption and caking. Sugar is highly hygroscopic. When relative humidity exceeds 75%, sugar begins to cake; when humidity reaches 80%, it can even completely deliquesce. Once lumps enter the production line, they at best block the screen mesh, causing frequent stoppages, and at worst cause imbalances in subsequent ingredient proportions, affecting the quality of entire batches.
Second, electrostatic adhesion and screen blinding. Sugar powder tends to generate static electricity during high‑speed motion, causing powder to adhere to the screen surface, equipment walls and pipelines. Fine powder sticks to the screen surface, forming a "powder film" that reduces the effective screening area, lowers screening accuracy, and leads to frequent stoppages for cleaning.
When caking and blinding combine, sugar screening often falls into a repetitive cycle of "blinding – stoppage – cleaning – blinding again", compromising both line efficiency and product quality.
To address the specific screening requirements of sugar products, Gaofu Machinery – with over 40 years of experience in the screening industry – has developed the S49 series rotary vibrating sieve for sugar, providing an efficient and reliable screening solution for white granulated sugar, icing sugar and other sugar products.
The Gaofu S49 series sugar rotary vibrating sieve operates on the three‑dimensional gyratory motion principle. The equipment uses a vertical vibration motor as the excitation source, with eccentric weights installed at the upper and lower ends of the motor shaft converting the rotational motion into compound vibration in horizontal, vertical and tilting directions – known as "three‑dimensional motion". This compound vibration is transmitted to the screen deck, causing the material to move in a spiral outward trajectory on the screen surface.
The value of this three‑dimensional motion for sugar screening lies in two aspects:
First, thorough material loosening and natural breaking of lumps. Sugar particles continuously tumble and shift on the screen surface, and moisture‑induced lumps are naturally broken up during the motion, reducing the opportunity for lump accumulation.
Second, extended screening path and high accuracy. The material travels along a spiral trajectory, giving every sugar crystal multiple opportunities to contact the screen. The equipment can achieve screening fineness up to 600 mesh (0.02 mm) and filtration precision down to 5 microns.
The equipment supports 1 to 5 screen decks, enabling simultaneous separation into 2 to 6 grades. One machine, one feed – simultaneously completes coarse impurity removal, target classification and fine powder separation.
To address the core problems of moisture‑induced caking and electrostatic blinding in sugar products, the Gaofu sugar rotary vibrating sieve incorporates multiple anti‑blinding and cleaning solutions:
Bouncing ball cleaning system. Food‑grade silicone balls are placed under the screen deck. During screening, the balls continuously tap the underside of the screen, dislodging adhering sugar particles and lumps, keeping the mesh clear.
Ultrasonic cleaning system (optional). For ultra‑fine icing sugar (e.g., above 200 mesh), an optional ultrasonic cleaning device can be added. The high‑frequency vibration generated by the ultrasonic system is transmitted to the screen surface, effectively breaking the adhesion between particles and truly solving the problems of electrostatic adhesion and micro‑fine particle blinding.
Optimised screen surface motion trajectory. The material continuously tumbles on the screen surface, reducing the chance for lump accumulation. The screen tensioning structure is designed to keep the screen surface flat, structurally reducing the probability of blinding.
The two cleaning solutions can be flexibly selected or combined according to the fineness of the sugar product and process requirements, ensuring that the equipment maintains a high passage rate and high screening accuracy during continuous production.
As white sugar is a food consumed directly, the hygiene standards for production equipment are extremely strict. The Gaofu sugar rotary vibrating sieve incorporates food safety considerations in both material selection and structural design:
High‑quality stainless steel. Material‑contact parts are made of 304 stainless steel as standard, with finely polished surfaces that meet hygiene requirements – corrosion‑resistant and easy to clean. This eliminates the risk of heavy metal contamination at the source, ensuring every grain of sugar is pure and safe.
Fully enclosed sealed structure. The equipment has a fully enclosed design, effectively preventing dust escape during screening, avoiding moisture absorption and cross‑contamination. The fully enclosed structure also improves the workshop environment and reduces material loss.
Dead‑corner‑free design. The simple structure has no hygiene dead corners and supports rapid disassembly for cleaning, meeting food‑grade production hygiene requirements. Batch‑to‑batch cleaning is fast and thorough, effectively reducing the risk of cross‑contamination.
Moisture‑proof sealing. All connection points are fitted with food‑grade seals, effectively preventing external moisture from entering the screening chamber. The vibration motor has a high protection class rating, adapting to the humid working environment of sugar processing workshops.
The Gaofu S49 series sugar rotary vibrating sieve is suitable for the following sugar screening applications:
Finished white granulated sugar classification. Classifying dried white granulated sugar into coarse, medium and fine grades according to national standard particle size specifications. One feed completes multi‑stage classification, ensuring uniform crystals and pure colour.
Fine icing sugar screening. Fine classification and impurity removal of icing sugar for baking, confectionery and beverage applications. With the optional ultrasonic system, precise screening of ultra‑fine icing sugar above 200 mesh is easily achieved.
Soft white sugar screening. Soft white sugar has a soft, fine texture and is sprayed with invert syrup during production. The rotary vibrating sieve can be used for impurity removal and classification of soft white sugar, ensuring product quality.
Sugar raw material impurity removal. Removing fibre impurities, packaging debris, lumps and other foreign matter from sugar powder, ensuring purity at the raw material stage and providing clean material for subsequent processing.
From the perspective of actual production conditions in sugar processing, the Gaofu S49 series sugar rotary vibrating sieve delivers value in four dimensions:
Quality value – Lumps are effectively broken up, fibre impurities are precisely intercepted, and sugar products are accurately classified according to national standard particle size specifications. Finished sugar has uniform crystals and a pure appearance, meeting the stringent requirements of premium food and beverage production.
Efficiency value – Multi‑deck screens complete multi‑stage classification with a single feed; the bouncing ball or ultrasonic cleaning mechanism effectively reduces screen blinding frequency; the equipment can run continuously for extended periods. The production line no longer needs to stop frequently because of screen blinding, and overall capacity is fully utilised.
Hygiene value – Food‑grade 304 stainless steel and the dead‑corner‑free design make the equipment easy to clean with no material residue; the fully enclosed structure effectively controls dust escape, helping enterprises meet the hygiene requirements of food GMP and HACCP systems.
Compliance value – Sugar classification results comply with national standards. Standardised classification equipment and regulated process flows give products stronger compliance credibility during quality inspections and customer factory audits.
