Gaofu Tapioca Flour Rotary Vibrating Sieve Fine Screening Equipment: Removing Lumps and Coarse Fibre Impurities from Tapioca Flour

  • Tapioca Flour Screening: The Critical Step from "Raw Material" to "Premium Product"

Tapioca flour is an important basic raw material in the food, pharmaceutical, papermaking, textile and bio‑fermentation industries. From tapioca starch to whole tapioca flour, from baking powders to chemical auxiliaries, the fineness uniformity and purity of tapioca flour directly determine the quality and application value of the end product.

However, tapioca flour screening is far from straightforward. Tapioca itself has a high fibre content, and during processing the fibres tend to wrap around the screen mesh. Tapioca starch particles are fine and easily block the mesh openings. Tapioca flour is also quite sticky, prone to adhesion under friction and pressure, and its hygroscopic nature can cause moisture‑induced caking if humidity is not properly controlled – making it one of the recognised "difficult‑to‑screen" materials.

The core requirements of tapioca flour screening can be summarised in three key points: removing lumps, separating fibres and achieving precise classification. Lumps affect powder flowability and solubility, fibre impurities affect finished product purity and whiteness, and uneven particle size directly impacts downstream application performance.

The Gaofu S49 series tapioca flour rotary vibrating sieve is a fine screening machine specifically designed to address the above material characteristics of tapioca flour. It achieves efficient screening and impurity removal through three‑dimensional vibration, ensures hygiene safety with 304/316L food‑grade stainless steel, and tackles caking and fibre entanglement with bouncing ball and ultrasonic cleaning mechanisms – providing a professional and reliable fine screening solution for tapioca flour processors.

  • Three‑Dimensional Vibration Principle: The Technical Foundation for Fine Screening

The Gaofu S49 series tapioca flour rotary vibrating sieve uses a vertical vibration motor as the excitation source. Eccentric weights installed at the upper and lower ends of the motor shaft convert the rotational motion into a horizontal, vertical and tilting three‑dimensional compound motion – known as "three‑dimensional motion". This compound motion is transmitted to the screen deck, causing the material to move in a spiral outward trajectory on the screen surface.

By adjusting the phase angle of the upper and lower eccentric weights, the motion trajectory and residence time of the material on the screen surface can be changed. For sticky, fibrous materials such as tapioca flour, the parameters can be adjusted to give the material sufficient dispersion force and moderate residence time on the screen surface, ensuring that lumps are broken up, fibres are intercepted, and fine powder passes through smoothly.

The value of this three‑dimensional motion for tapioca flour screening lies in two aspects:

First, thorough material dispersion and natural breaking of lumps. Tapioca flour continuously tumbles and shifts under three‑dimensional vibration, and moisture‑induced lumps are naturally broken apart during the motion. Fibres do not concentrate and wrap in any single area, and sticky material does not accumulate locally to form an adhesive layer on the screen surface.

Second, extended screening path and high accuracy. The material travels along a spiral trajectory, giving every particle multiple opportunities to contact the screen. The Gaofu S49 series rotary vibrating sieve can achieve screening accuracy up to 600 mesh (0.02 mm) and filtration precision down to 5 microns. The equipment supports 1 to 5 screen decks, enabling simultaneous separation into 2 to 6 grades.

  • Core Technical Advantages of the Gaofu Tapioca Flour Rotary Vibrating Sieve

Multi‑Deck Classification – One Feed, Multiple Fractions

Tapioca flour products require a wide range of particle sizes, from coarse powder to ultra‑fine powder. Different grades and different application scenarios have different fineness requirements.

The Gaofu S49 series rotary vibrating sieve supports 1 to 5 screen decks, allowing a single feed to complete multiple steps simultaneously. In a three‑deck configuration, for example: the top deck (coarser mesh) intercepts large lumps, coarse fibres and foreign impurities; the middle deck (target mesh) collects the acceptable‑size finished tapioca flour; and the bottom deck (finer mesh) separates ultra‑fine powder, which can be used for other purposes or returned for reprocessing.

One machine, one feed – simultaneously completes the three steps of coarse impurity removal, fine classification and ultra‑fine powder separation. For manufacturers that need to produce different grades of tapioca flour, this design greatly reduces equipment investment and process transfer time.

Anti‑Blinding Screen Cleaning – Solving Caking and Fibre Entanglement

The two most troublesome problems in tapioca flour screening are moisture‑induced lumps blocking the mesh openings and coarse fibres wrapping around the screen. The Gaofu tapioca flour rotary vibrating sieve incorporates multiple cleaning solutions to address these two pain points:

Bouncing ball cleaning system. Food‑grade silicone balls are placed under the screen deck. During screening, the balls continuously tap the underside of the screen, dislodging adhering tapioca flour and entangled fibres, keeping the mesh clear.

Ultrasonic cleaning system (optional). For ultra‑fine tapioca flour or more sticky materials, an optional ultrasonic system can be added. The high‑frequency vibration generated by the ultrasonic system is transmitted to the screen surface, effectively breaking the adhesion of starch and preventing mesh blockage caused by static electricity and adsorption.

The two cleaning solutions can be flexibly selected or combined according to material characteristics and process requirements, ensuring that the equipment maintains a high passage rate and high screening accuracy during continuous production. Screening accuracy can reach over 95% .

Food‑Grade Stainless Steel – Ensuring Food Safety

Tapioca flour is widely used in food and pharmaceutical applications, so production equipment must meet extremely high hygiene standards. All material‑contact parts of the Gaofu tapioca flour rotary vibrating sieve are made of 304 food‑grade stainless steel, with mirror‑polished surfaces (Ra ≤ 0.8μm) and no welded dead corners. For production lines requiring even higher cleanliness, 316L stainless steel is available.

The equipment uses food‑grade silicone seals and a fully enclosed structure to prevent dust leakage and external contamination. The whole machine has a simple structure with no hygiene dead corners , supports rapid disassembly for cleaning, and fully complies with food GMP standards.

Fully Enclosed Sealed Structure – Dust, Moisture and Contamination Protection

During tapioca flour screening, dust escape causes both material loss and workshop contamination. The Gaofu tapioca flour rotary vibrating sieve has a fully enclosed sealed structure, with screening taking place inside a sealed chamber – no dust escape, no material leakage.

The fully enclosed design provides three assurances: preventing dust escape, improving the workshop environment; effectively blocking external moisture, preventing secondary moisture absorption of the tapioca flour during screening; and preventing foreign matter from entering the screening system, ensuring the purity of the tapioca flour.

Quick Screen Change – Reducing Downtime

Different grades of tapioca flour require different mesh sizes. The Gaofu S49 series rotary vibrating sieve uses a quick‑change screen structure, allowing screen changes in just 3 to 5 minutes. The mother screen provides structural support, while the fine screen (working screen) performs the screening. When a different mesh size is needed, only the fine screen needs to be replaced; the mother screen can be used for a long time – reducing consumable costs while shortening downtime.

Automatic Discharge of Impurities – Continuous Operation

During screening, impurities and oversize material automatically move along the screen surface to the reject port and are discharged without manual intervention. The equipment can run 24 hours continuously , effectively supporting large‑scale production, with a normal service life of 15 to 20 years.

  • Typical Application Scenarios

The Gaofu S49 series tapioca flour rotary vibrating sieve is suitable for the following screening applications:

Finished tapioca starch classification. Precisely classifying dried tapioca starch by particle size to ensure uniform particle size and high purity, meeting the production requirements of different grades of tapioca starch.

Tapioca flour raw material impurity removal. Effectively removing coarse fibres, fine debris, lumps and foreign matter from tapioca flour, ensuring smooth operation of subsequent processing steps. Tapioca raw materials may contain sand, stones, fibre and other impurities, and the rotary vibrating sieve intercepts these physical hazards through precise screen mesh configuration.

Whole tapioca flour screening. Whole tapioca flour is increasingly used in baking, seasonings and other fields, with strict requirements for powder fineness and purity. The multi‑deck design of the rotary vibrating sieve completes coarse, medium and fine classification in a single pass.
