The working principle of the WSA centrifugal sifter is fundamentally different from that of ordinary vibrating screens. The equipment abandons the traditional method that relies on gravitational potential energy and mechanical vibration, and instead uses air kinetic energy for screening.
The screen is cylindrical and placed inside a sealed housing. After material passes through a screw conveying system, it is mixed and atomised with airflow before entering the screen cylinder. Rotating impeller blades inside the cylinder subject the material to both centrifugal force and spiral pushing force, causing it to "jet" through the screen. Fine powder smaller than the mesh openings passes through, while oversize material moves along the cylinder wall and is discharged from the coarse outlet.
The direct result of this working principle is: the whole machine runs smoothly without vibration or noise.
Traditional vibrating screens rely on eccentric weights to generate excitation force, and the whole machine operates under high‑frequency vibration – noise is inevitable. The centrifugal sifter, however, uses airflow as the power source, and the impeller blades rotate smoothly. The operating noise of the equipment is significantly lower than that of traditional vibrating screens. For feed production workshops that run continuously for long hours, low‑noise equipment means a more comfortable working environment, lower operator fatigue and fewer occupational health risks.
In addition, the equipment has a compact size and light weight, requiring no complex foundation fixing. It is flexible to install and can be quickly deployed on existing production lines without occupying excessive workshop space.
Continuous Screening: Ensuring Uninterrupted Line Operation
Aquatic powder feed production has a rigid requirement for equipment continuous running capability – once the line starts, the screening step must not become the weak link.
The WSA centrifugal sifter is designed with continuous operation in mind.
Self‑cleaning screen – no blinding, no stoppage. During screening, the swirling airflow continuously scours the screen surface, blowing off adhering material – achieving automatic screen cleaning. The screen does not blind, and the equipment does not "strike". The equipment also has a re‑crushing function for caked material – lumps are broken down by the impeller blades and then pass through the screen, further reducing blinding and material waste.
High throughput and efficiency. The passage rate of the centrifugal sifter can reach 85% to 95%, with throughput 5 to 10 times or more that of ordinary vibrating screens. For the same capacity requirement, one centrifugal sifter can replace multiple vibrating screens – fewer machines, fewer maintenance points, and higher overall line efficiency.
Long‑term continuous operation, safe and reliable. The equipment can be used as a single unit or in combination with multiple units, supporting long‑term continuous operation. The new outer spherical bearing design extends service life and reduces maintenance frequency. The whole machine has a fully enclosed structure with no dust escape, ensuring workshop cleanliness and reducing material loss.
Can be integrated into pneumatic conveying systems. The machine can be used together with a pneumatic conveying system, directly connected into the air pipeline to achieve fully enclosed operation from conveying to screening. This design reduces equipment investment for intermediate transfer steps and minimises material exposure risk, making the aquatic powder feed production process more compact and efficient.
The WSA centrifugal sifter was designed from the outset for ultra‑fine powder materials that are light, sticky, fibrous, electrostatic and prone to agglomeration. Fish meal, shrimp meal, soybean meal and other aquatic feed raw materials have exactly all of these characteristics.
Wide fineness range. The equipment is designed for screening powder materials from 80 to 530 mesh (up to 635 mesh for some models). From the ultra‑fine powder of eel larval feed to conventional fish meal classification, all can be completed on the same machine simply by changing the screen mesh.
Non‑blinding, non‑sticking. The centrifugal sifter uses airflow as the power source, with material in a suspended state during screening. The contact pattern with the screen is fundamentally different from that of traditional vibrating screens. The self‑cleaning mechanism of swirling airflow prevents fine powder from accumulating on the mesh openings. This feature is particularly critical for screening high‑oil, high‑viscosity materials such as fish meal and shrimp meal.
Enclosed and dust‑free – clean production. The fully enclosed structure keeps screening inside a sealed chamber with no dust escape. Dust control in fish meal production workshops is not only an environmental requirement but also directly related to operator occupational health. The fully enclosed design solves this problem at the source.
The WSA centrifugal sifter offers flexible integration options in production lines. It can be used as a standalone screening unit, in series or in parallel with multiple units, or directly connected into a pneumatic conveying air system.
